Aside from lining baking sheets and keeping sandwiches fresh, a roll of foil has many household uses. From protecting your silver to cleaning the house, here are just a few of the things you can do with aluminum foil.
1. Ice cake. If you don't have a piping bag with you, just fold some durable foil into a tube and get creative!
2. Clean the pot. Crushed aluminum foil balls work like a dehuller and also remove rust.
3. Makes ironing a breeze. Place a sheet of aluminum foil under the ironing board cover to speed up your ironing. This bounces heat back into the fabric and helps you do laundry with ease.
4. Messy painting. When you or your grandkids want to paint, use a piece of aluminum foil as a palette instead of smudging the plate. It can then be discarded.
5. Laundry is softer. Roll up a ball of metal foil, then put a foil or two in the tumble dryer, and your wash will be softer and static-free.
6. Make the perfect pie. Worried about the pie crust getting caught in the oven? Fold aluminum foil over the crust in the oven to prevent it from burning.
7. Protect your plants and trees. Deter rodents or deer from chewing on young tree shoots by wrapping a layer of aluminum foil around the base of its young tree.
8. If you're pouring something and don't have a funnel, roll some foil into a cone and use it.
9. If you're baking a cake and you don't have the right shaped cake tin you want (maybe you want a heart shaped cake?), you can make your own cake tin using aluminum foil. However, you will need to use a generous amount of sheets that are strong enough to support the cake mix, so you may want to opt for more durable aluminum foil.
10. Looking for more innovative ways to style your hair? While hair is still damp, wrap sections in foil for a length to curl or loosen as desired. Go to bed, let your hair dry overnight, and in the morning, you should have lovely curly locks.
11. For those awkward gift wrapping, use foil instead of wrapping paper. You will also not need to use tape with aluminum foil!
12. Aluminum foil can also help keep your home warm. Placing an aluminum foil panel on the wall behind the radiator transfers heat directly back to the room, making your home more efficient.
