First, the role of 5052 aluminum plate in the manufacture of solid wheels
5052 alloy aluminum plate is the most commonly used deformed aluminum alloy in wheel manufacturing, which can not be strengthened by heat treatment. 5052 aluminum plate alloy has low magnesium content (2.2%~2.8%), moderate strength, and is widely used. The magnesium content of 5154 and 5454 alloys is slightly higher, the latter also contains a certain amount of Mn, its strength is higher than that of 5052 aluminum plate alloy; 5083 alloy is an Al-Mg wheel aluminum alloy with high magnesium content. Although the Mg and Mn content of 5086 alloy is lower than that of 5083 alloy, it still has quite high strength. The characteristics of 5052 aluminum plate are: high corrosion resistance, good weldability, suitable for manufacturing wheels working under severe conditions, because the wheel is made of sheet metal stamping, the material is required to have good formability, so all the annealed 5052-O aluminum plate. The strength of the series aluminum sheet will decrease slightly after room temperature forming, and the size of the workpiece will change slightly, so the 5052 aluminum alloy plate needs to be stabilized.

Second, the role of magnesium, the key element in 5052 aluminum plate
Magnesium is the main alloying element in 5052 aluminum plate, and the Z-large solid solubility in aluminum is up to 17.4%, but in the 5××× alloy commonly used in industry, the content of magnesium is generally not more than 5.5%. This series is an aluminum alloy that cannot be strengthened by heat treatment, although the solid solubility of magnesium in aluminum decreases rapidly with the decrease of temperature. However, the aging effect is poor due to the difficulty of nucleation, few cores and large size of precipitated phase. Magnesium preferentially precipitates MgAl or MgAl3 at the grain boundary, which makes the alloy prone to intergranular cracks and stress corrosion. Magnesium can significantly improve the strength of aluminum without reducing its plasticity too much. Al-Mg alloy has good corrosion resistance and weldability. Luder's' lines may be generated in annealed Al-Mg alloy during machining deformation.
